AUH – SYD – 12 January 2019 – EY450

Having only flown on Etihad’s 777-300 First Class product, it was very exciting to be finally trying their revolutionised First Class product known as the First Apartment. It is exclusive and a very private space. For someone that loves flying and travelling the world, this was one flight where I didn’t feel like I was flying home to Sydney. The crew all welcomed us on board beautifully offering us a glass of their finest champagne, a hot towel and the Wi-Fi code. From the moment we boarded to the moment we left the aircraft – this would have to be the best flying experiences that we have ever had – we just didn’t want to get off on arrival in Sydney. All the crew were beyond exceptional, including the inflight chef Rocco who was simply superb in creating culinary delights that were always presented with creative flair. His knowledge and expertise was second to none. Having the ability to book a shower before landing was such a novelty but very much enjoyable. The loungewear would have to be the most comfortable of any airline that we have flown and the full length wardrobe and vanity unit with lit make-up mirror were added luxuries. The First Apartment is upholstered with the finest leather and its wide armchair and a separate 6-foot 10-inch fully-flat bed were extremely comfortable. The beautiful amenity kit from Acqua di Parma adds a touch of the purest Italian style with simple and contemporary beauty products in their unmistakable Parma yellow, their trademark colour. We are already planning our return to The First Apartment this year…as it was simply perfect! But I have said it before, it doesn’t matter what cabin you are in, if the crew are amazing at what they do, the flight will be fantastic and the crew on board EY450 on Saturday 12 January were beyond anything that we have experienced!
