The city of love, the most romantic city in the world. It’s hard not to fall in love with croissant, baguettes and French pastries. Most people have a different romance in Paris to me. I’ve always been there as a single lady so my romance is with its food, wine architecture, history, art, shopping and pretending that I’m fluent in French by responding to oui, merci and d’ccord to everything. You’re just hoping someone asks you to introduce yourself because who doesn’t know how to say My name is Yvette in French.
And yes there is definitely an air of romance in the air whether you’re there as a couple or not.
But back to the food! They really know how to do their bread and desserts don’t they? Their savouries are just as mouth watering as for those with a sweet tooth. There are so many hidden gems if you take the time to research or just be adventurous to try. You really can’t go wrong with many of the cafes and restaurants there. I mean this is where nouveau cuisine was created right? But it’s just how much you end up paying for it. Ah, I’m on holidays I say.
Ok Eiffle Tower, arc du triomphe, the palace of Versailles, are all must dos. And don’t not do it just because you don’t want to do touristy things. It’s a given. Tick these sights off and then explore. I mean Moulin Rouge, Notre Dame.. I mean should I even position those two locations next to each other? Hhhmm. Both are sites not to be missed. The recent fires at the Notre Dame did leave tears rolling down my cheeks because for those that have been there, it’s spectacular.
One thing that has baffled me is how do the French do chic and sexy and style all at the same time. I mean it’s so effortless for them. Me walking out the door is already a production but for the French women, it looks like they are born with flawless skin, long eyelashes, blushed cheeks and rouge lips with sexy bed hair paired with trendy outfits and shoes. Something so hard to emulate but so fascinating to observe when you see the Parisians walk down the cobbled stone streets.
You’re never short of a walking tour, food tour. These are my must dos for any new city I enter. It’s a great way to be guided and then to explore on your own. Paris is just one spot in France. Transportation is good enough to take you far and wide from other French countryside and wine regions to other bustling cities all furnished with all things French that you love, with just a little twist.
