LAS VEGAS

"Sin City"

BEST TIME TO GO

Las Vegas is all a year-round destination. However, if you're looking for the best possible weather March-May (springtime) and September-November (autumn) are some of the best times to go. Weather is still great and it’s outside of the hot and busy summer months when Vegas gets packed. If you are a fan of the Las Vegas shows, check out schedules of the performance before you decide to travel.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Today, Las Vegas can provide any kind of vacation you can imagine. There is much more to Las Vegas than the Strip. Whether you are coming for the casinos, luxury with visits to hotel spas, high-end boutiques, the shows or the food, Las Vegas has you covered. The City is also a great starting point for outdoor activities, such as visiting Hoover Dam or Grand Canyon and Red Rock Canyon. Before leaving make sure you see at least a couple of the classic attractions and landmarks, catch a performance by Cirque du Soleil, learn something about Vegas history at the Neon Museum or the Mob Museum.

TRAVEL TIPS

On the Strip, everything is further away than it seems. When you look at google maps everything is right next to each other, but because of the long blocks and size of the hotels places are not as near to each other as they appear.

If you are after some retail therapy head to the Aria and enjoy Bond Street. The shops are an experience in themselves.

Make sure you stay hydrated so drink lots of water as you are in the desert, after all.

Sometimes i’s nice to leave bright lights behind and head to Red Rock Canyon Preservation Area or visit exhibitions at the Mob, Neon and Titanic museums.

travel planner personal insight

Each time I leave Vegas, I feel I need another vacation. Make sure you book a beach retreat straight after Las Vegas to recoup and recover. Maybe it’s just me. This is my city that never sleeps. Maybe it’s just me that doesn’t get much sleep when in Vegas. I don’t go there with the intention of staying out late and partying. There is just so much to do in Vegas that I don’t get enough sleep. Many would say 3 nights and that’s enough. Probably true! But there’s lots more to do than the obvious pool parties and casinos.

If you love music and shows, look ahead of time and check out who’s playing. There are always musical acts booked for their Las Vegas leg of the tour. Not to mention the in residence acts that brings thousands of loyal fans to the strip time and time again. Circue du Soliel – there’s at least 2 to choose from at any one time. “O” at the Bellagio is not to be missed. Spend that little extra to sit right up the front to engage in the full experience. That really means to get the splashes of water. It’s pretty amazing.

If you’re lucky, perhaps there’s an international boxing match in town. The strip is literally on fire with people and celebrities. You should check out the airport tarmac when that happens. Lines and lines of private jets. Just amazing to see. Aahh One can dream.

When in Vegas, check out the Grand Canyon. The only way to see it is taking the helicopter tour. It may be an early morning trip but well worth the money and time. What’s not to love when the helicopter flies through the canyon and lands in the canyon for a champagne picnic. Money well spent I say.

Don’t just stick to the strip, head down to Freemont Street and visit old Vegas. It doesn’t have the shiny new 5 star sparkle but it lights up just as much. Much like the strip you can stroll the street with a tall cocktail (margarita was my choice) in hand and enjoy the sights and sounds. It’s a trip down memory lane even if I don’t have much of a memory of it.

Restaurants are galore for any price level. From the all you can eat buffets to the fine dining restaurants envied by other cities around the world. If you like Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Joel Robuchon, Pierre Gagnaire – they’re all there in one or more restaurants. Can’t name anymore cause I ran out of meals to try them all.

And finally what’s a trip without shopping. Head to the factory outlet malls. It’s a cab ride away but well worth it. That’s at least a full day spent there. On the strip, there’s a fashion mall to get all the latest trends. And if you’ve won big at one of the casinos, there’s designer shops plenty. Almost in every hotel! By the way, hotels may look like they’re right next to each other on the map, it’s at least a 15 minute walk to get to the other or more if you get lost like me.
